I and my wife planned a road trip in Uganda, July 2021. We booked our holiday with 4×4 car hire Uganda and Moses was our travel consultant and what we asked him was answered on time and in detail and it is worthy traveling with him while on your self-drive holiday in East Africa.
During the planning process of the trip was so amazing and he was so helpful to customize our route that we very much wanted to take and due to him we found it so flexible and we exactly got what we wanted on this holiday. Our 21 days trip begun with Jinja where we had like 4 nights.
On our arrival day from Entebbe international airport, we drove to Jinja and with the heavy traffic flow we reached the town very exhausted and with our rooftop tent vehicle we just took some rest and then in the evening thought of preparing the dinner and before this we first took the water sliding experience at the Nile River Explorer.
This camp is so interesting from the cool environment of the green cover and the cool breeze from the shores of the River Nile. As the camp is the stopover of almost all travelers to Jinja the first night our tent remained empty as we joined other travelers from Europe and had interesting goat roasting and beer the whole night.
We spent the day relaxing inside our tent and sitting in the tree shades of the camp. Then in the evening we were joined up by other couple with the same car and rooftop tent from 4×4 Car hire Uganda and we became friends being we were all traveling with the same company.
When we tried to engage with them in details, we found that we were charged same service price and this couple was so praising Moses and Mike being so flexible and informative about Uganda and the service of car rental for self drive holidays in East Africa. Then the next day we both went for the white-water rafting and we all arranged it through the company consultant and the experience was so amazing and, on this day, we didn’t cook lunch as the fare for rafting included lunch.
Being that we both parked at the same area and we did our dinner cooking at the same time and we ate as community. Later, we all entered into our rooftop tent and they are really comfortable and this company provide very good sleeping bags and pillow cases that can soften your neck.
After we visited the source of the Nile and after we drove to the Sipi falls interesting visit as an amazing attraction at Mount Elgon National Park in Mbale. Just your arrival you get the glimpse image of these falls and if you don’t fear getting wet come closer the falls.
Later being exhausted with the Sipi Falls we drove to Moroto town and on our way, we took en-route visit to the Pian Upe game reserve and here you will have amazing view of the undulating landscapes and the green Savannah of the area. Here we had game drive and much more wildlife and birds were spotted and later we drove to the Kara-tunga camp for our lunch.
Then if you do your earlier planning with the camp management you will be able to take overnights in the local villages and with your money you will be able to have fun with the goats roasting and beer with the local guide.

Thereafter, in the morning drive to the Kotido and take IK nature walk and then have lunch at Mama Dan restaurant where you will eat local food and this is mixture of chicken, beans, chapati and rice. Embark the safari jeep and continue to Kidepo Valley National Park and upon arrival relax at the cool environment of Kidepo Savannah Lodge.
Spend the evening on scenic game drive looking for African big5 and other wildlife species. The game drive trucks go through the beautiful landscapes and the more time you stay in this park the more you get to enjoy the more it offers.
