Once upon time, I had a tour in Uganda where I visited so many tourism places engaging in different activities. This is the best safari I have ever enjoyed in my life out of the so many times I have been travelling. The main reason why I enjoyed this safari more than the usual ones is that I did not get so tired on the way since the safari was based on using flights. For the many times I have been travelling, I were just using road transport whereby I always spent so many hours on the way hence causing fatigue.
My 9 days Uganda flying safari holiday mainly covered one of the best parks in Uganda including Murchison Falls National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
On this safari, I participated in amazing Uganda safari activities such as gorilla trekking in Bwindi Forest, game viewing experience in Queen Elizabeth National Park and Murchison Falls National Park and boat safaris on Kazinga Channel and River Nile on the bottom of Murchison Falls.
On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, I was warmly welcomed by an experienced driver Emma a worker from Nature Adventure Africa Safaris who transferred me to Imperial Resort Beach Hotel for lunch and freshening up. After lunch I proceeded to Mabamba Swamp where I encountered with several water birds including the elusive shoebill stork, the Papyrus Gonolek, Blue swallow, pallid harrier, white-winged warbler among others. After exploring the Mabamba swamp, I returned to the hotel for dinner and sleepover.
On my second day of the safari, I was transferred to Entebbe International Airport to catch up with my domestic flight to Mweya Airstrip. It took about 1 hour to land. Upon landing, I was welcomed by my guide and we had an enroute game drive as I was heading to Mweya Safari lodge for check-in and lunch.
In the afternoon, I went back for game drive while exploring Queen Elizabeth National Park and here I spotted a lot of animals including herds of elephants, buffaloes, Ugandan kob, topi, waterbuck, giant forest hog, hyenas, chimpanzees and lions among others. Then I returned to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
On the third day, I had my breakfast and headed to the Kasenyi plains for a game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. These plains are home to a huge population of Ugandan kob which are a magnet to predators like lions, leopards and hyenas.
During the game drive, I was able to see a predator- prey action. Other animals spotted include buffaloes, giant forest hogs, Nile crocodiles, leopards, spotted hyenas, Topis among others. After the game drive, I went back to the lodge for lunch and to have some rest. After having some resting, then I headed to Kazinga Channel for a boat cruise. The Kazinga Channel is a natural water channel connecting Lake George and Lake Edward. The channel is renowned for hosting huge population of hippos which you see during the cruise. On the cruise, I also spotted some crocodiles in the waters, elephants, antelopes and buffaloes drinking water along the shores of the channel. I also enjoyed seeing some water birds including herons, the elusive shoebill, grey crowned crested crane among others. After the cruise, I met my driver and he drove me back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
The 4th day I transferred to Ishasha sector where I fully spent the whole day on a game drive. The Ishasha Sector is famously known for hosting the tree-climbing lions which are seen on a lucky day resting on tree branches. During the game drive I encountered with other animals including antelopes, elephants, buffaloes and so many birds. Together with other members I found there, we had our picnic lunch and later I headed to Ishasha Jungle Lodge for check-in and this is where I had my dinner and the sleepover.
On my 5th day I had breakfast, checked out of my lodge and met my driver to transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the Ishasha Sector with en-route game drive.
Reaching Park, I checked-in at Buhoma Lodge for lunch and spent the rest of the day resting at the lodge.
My 6th day was for the long-awaited experience. I had breakfast and headed to the park’s headquarters where I met with other fellow tourists for briefing about gorilla trekking and the right way to behave and here a senior ranger gave us detailed information about dos and don’ts while in the presence of the gorillas. In groups of 8 members, we headed to the starting and entered into the forest of Bwindi with a ranger guide to search for gorillas. The trek through the verdant forest took us about 2 to 6 hours to locate the gorillas since they had moved far to search for food. On the trek we saw other primates such as black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons and many birds.
Upon locating the gorillas, we spent one hour with them taking pictures and observing their behaviors and trails which is similar to that of humans, watched the babies playing with each other among others.
We trekked back to the park’s headquarters to pick our gorilla certificate and then I returned to the lodge to rest. In the evening me and my driver we head to the Batwa Community village for a cultural experience. At the village we interacted with these formerly forest people and they told us on how they used to hunt, gather fruits in order to survive in the forest. Here we enjoyed cultural dances and songs from the locals. After wards I returned to the lodge for dinner and sleepover.
On the 7th day after having breakfast, I headed to Kihihi Airstrip to catch up with my flight to Murchison Falls National Park. Upon arrival at Pakuba Airstrip, I was received by a representative from Nature Adventure Africa Safaris and headed to Chobe Safari lodge for check-in, lunch and rest.
In the afternoon, we headed to the top of the falls with a game drive and sightings of several wildlife. At the top of the falls, I watched the magnificent falls squeezing through the rocks in an 8 meters gorge. I took some photos for memories and later returned to the lodge for dinner and sleepover.
On the 8th day, I had breakfast and headed to the park for an early morning game drive. The guide told us that early morning drives offer a great opportunity to see many animals such as lions, buffaloes, giraffes, antelopes, elephants, waterbucks and many birds.
After the game drive, returned to lodge for lunch and freshening up. In the afternoon, I went for a boat cruise along the Nile. I spotted various animals such as Nile Crocodiles, hippos, buffaloes, elephants along the banks of Nile drinking water and many different birds such as bee-eaters, colored kingfishers, the shoe billed storks among others. The boat ride took us up to the bottom of Murchison Falls where I was able to see the mighty waterfalls clearly. Returned to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
On my last day nothing much was done. In the morning, I took breakfast and headed to Pakuba airstrip for a flight back to Entebbe International Airport. I arrived in time at Entebbe International Airport and bordered my flight back home and that was the end of my 9 days Uganda fly-in safari holiday and am very grateful that I traveled with Nature Adventure Africa Safaris’ team and I hope to see you soon.
